"2 Lines"

It was August 9th. We had been married 49 days. On a normal day I would say I'm pretty in tune with my body, but apparently not on this day. I blamed my frequent trips to the bathroom on drinking a lot of water. I blamed my moodiness on, well being moody. The tiredness on being overworked, the weird pains in my stomach on a bogus virus, and every other weird symptom on unspecified illnesses. A trip to my mother-in-laws had me more worried. She decided to randomly check my blood sugar, and what do you know? It was high. I didn't have diabetes, but we concluded I had an infection. I was sent home with a bottle full of Amoxicillin, (the Crocker fix to everything) and high hopes of feeling better.

The drive home was uneventful and as soon as Dustin unlocked the door I was headed to the bathroom to pee, again. I decided to take a pregnancy test just to make sure I wasn't, before taking the antibiotics. I knew I wasn't pregnant. Our friends had been married for 2 years and just found out they were expecting, so why would we be? We'd been married a month and some change. The Dr. had said.. "the longer we waited the harder it would be with my female problems, and even then it would probably take a while." Oh dear Dr. Hagood...I bet you didn't realize how fertile my deceiving ovaries were now did you?

It took 2 seconds for the white little stick to turn up 2 pink lines. I couldn't even set it on the floor beside me before it read positive! I walked into the bedroom as calm as I could and yelled, "Dustinnnnnnn...please come here." He came to the bedroom after a few mintues. There I stood, the white stick and all it's glory in hand, proudly displaying two pink lines. "Nuh-uh," he said. That's all that came out, 4 consecutive times, and then a smile. Tears poured down my face, because although this wasn't our perfect timing it was someone elses. We hugged, cried, laughed, and jumped up and down. Then, we took another, it matched. We didn't wait to share the news with our parents. I think they are still surprised to this day.

Little did we know August 9th wasn't going to be our only day for a miracle.
